A year after hosting the grand daddy event DrupalCon in our backyard in Downtown Los Angeles, the LA/OC Drupal coummunity is regroping for our annual DrupalCamp. This has certainly been a great year for Drupal. We saw the release of Drupal 8 as well as many more great organizations adopting Drupal for their web needs. The coummunity continues to grow stronger and this year's DrupalCamp LA slate of sessions looks to be the best yet. Whether you're looking to sharpen your programming skills or have just started evaluating the CMS for your needs, this event is a great opportunity to learn more and engage with the brightest minds in open-source. DrupalCamp LA is the annual FREE conference for the Drupal community in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Greater Southern California Area.
The conference will be held the weekend of Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, 2016, hosted by The UC Irvine Henry Samueli School of Engineering. Note our new location for 2016, in classrooms in and around the School of Engineering of the University of California, Irvine (on-campus location changed from 2015).
DrupalCamp LA is an unconference-style Drupal training, founded in the style of BarCamp. While there are some differences (DrupalCamp does more pre-planning on the sessions), they have the common goal of bringing smart people together in an environment that is accessible to everyone.
Since this is a free+cheap event and on a weekend, we also get to welcome folks who can't usually take the time or money to go to commercial conferences - so it's a lot of fun with fresh faces who have all come here with something to share and a desire to learn.
Since this is a free event and entirely volunteer run (and no, this is not our day job), we also expect active participation from everyone when it comes to running the conference. This is as simple as picking up after yourself or actively fixing something if you see it's broken, but please feel welcome to take an active role in making this a great event. We set the stage, but all of you make this happen!
