Sometimes a college website enlightens more than the students.
Mendocino College’s new website is helping the school fulfill it’s mission to serve as a beacon for students, faculty and the entire community.
Located in Ukiah, California, Mendocino College plays a critical role in the life of this rural area. Unfortunately, it’s old website did a poor job of showcasing the school’s brand. And was no longer capable of meeting the many needs of Mendocino’s stakeholders. After visiting the campus, the KWALL team knew it was time for a complete re-think. First, the site was designed to be simple to navigate and allow for easy content management. Since the students are predominately first time college goers, the site provides a platform for everything they require to navigate college life. Clubs can also build out their own sites with autonomous template websites. With the community in mind, the new website details the school’s adult education courses. And showcases the cultural events open to all members of the community.
The athletic department got special attention. We gave coaches the ability to manage their own sub sites. Since coaches want exposure for their athletes to help them move on to larger, four year schools, we designed in “gated” access to video tapes of the players in action. Taping into a separate FileMaker database, coaches can access the information they need to open up greater opportunities for their athletes.
At KWALL, we have years of experience in creating websites that help schools reach their potential on the web. If you’d like to learn more about how we can help your college or university, let’s open a discussion. It could be the smartest move you’ve ever made.
