Bridgewater State University wanted to create an online sense of home and identity for visitors and students. The old site didn't showcase BSU's personality, or any real marketing messages. It had the bare minimum information of what they offered, but nothing about why a student should attend. We needed to bring their brand online and show visitors what sets them apart. Of course they also needed a modern, responsive, accessible and media-rich website.
We wanted to understand the student experience at BSU to provide the best online experience possible. This entailed an analytics review, content audit, user personas and user journey mapping. Having this detailed research up-front makes planning the site structure and page layouts much easier.
Using our research as a starting place, we designed the pages that impact prospective students the most. The biggest touch points are the homepage, academic pages and the application page. These are key decision points in the prospective student journey that influence them. We also designed a detailed news and events system and landing pages for special topics.
BSU needed a robust and powerful web editing experience. They also had multiple third party integrations including single sign on and a catalog system. KWALL delivered with a state of the art Drupal 8 build and migration.
Highlighting the Students
Who better to tell the BSU story than the students and alumni who are living it? We created a student story feature which ties into the news system to create feeds of stories. This allows those student stories to be pulled in where they're needed.
We designed many pages to flesh out the academic journey for students. An academic landing page contains marketing material as well as a a filterable list of programs. Department pages are color coded for clarity. Individual program pages allow students to quickly compare or start a new search.
BSU's new site features a powerful publishing and editing platform, a beautiful custom design and an elevation of their content strategy.
